Glasgow 2014 Identifies Sports Technology as an Official Sponsor, Provider

October 24, 2013

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

Recently, the SportBusiness Groups’ Sports Sponsorship Insider mentioned that Sports Technology has become the latest addition to the “Glasgow 2014 sponsor family.” It joins Ticketmaster, Trespass and Riedel Communications as official Commonwealth Games providers.

Ty Speer, deputy chief executive of Glasgow 2014, who had welcomed the company as one of its sponsors, said he is confident Sports Technology will be able to deliver a great spectator experience throughout the duration of the games.

Sports Technology, a video screen firm and technology overlay provider of services for full-sized scale events—responsible for providing audio visual (AV) backdrops in television station studios and concert shows in Scotland—has been chosen as an official provider of large video screens and audio services at next year's Commonwealth Games, Glasgow 2014.

The Commonwealth Games is an international, multi-sport event that involves athletes from the Commonwealth of Nations. For the 2014 Games, there will be 17 sports (10 core sports and a further seven selected by the Organizing Committee) with 11 days of competition.

Glasgow 2014 is hosting the XX Commonwealth Games from July 23 through August 3, 2014.

As per Speer, Sports Technology will be responsible for delivering a cost effective solution to have the required interface to bring extensive coverage of the sporting program. The company will play a key role in supporting the AV entertainment: it is responsible for the public address and audio systems at both competition and non-competition venues as well as key facilities, including the Athletes' Village.

Sports Technology will be supplying world class technology for such a global sporting event and will be delivering the Games AV functions behind the screens; the company sees this as yet another opportunity to showcase its services and prove that it can make a real difference to meet the specific needs of future Organizing Committees in similar events.

This is not the first time, in fact, that Sports Technology has been the official provider of audio visual and technical staging services for an important sport event; in fact, it has previously supplied, installed and provided operational support technology at the London 2012 Olympics and Paralympics as well as provided for other multi-sporting events, including the Wimbledon Championships, many UK Athletics events, the Formula One Grand Prix and the Commonwealth Games at Manchester in 2002. They are also expected to provide services at the Sochi 2014 Winter Olympic Games too.
