One World Sports is Part of Google Fiber's New Sports Tier

August 05, 2013

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

Faster broadband speeds are providing many opportunities for service providers to introduce entertainment programming with many different options. New generations of televisions have changed the passive nature of this activity into one that is interactive. Viewers can now access more information, play online games with people in other countries, and purchase products they have just viewed on an infomercial. The Google Fiber project is designed to provide select American cities with blazingly fast broadband speeds. One of the cities is Kansas City, Mo., and One World Sports is going to take advantage of this technology by launching its programming.

The programming is going to be available on Sports Plus, Google (News - Alert) Fiber’s new sports tier, which includes Pac 12 Networks, NFL Red Zone and MLB Strike Zone. The fiber network also provides programming available on traditional premium cable channels.

One World Sports provides a variety of sports entertainment compared to other outlets in the United States. Sports like soccer (football), cricket, ping-pong, badminton, rugby, field hockey, basketball, baseball, mixed martial arts and an event not available on many stations, eSports are part of the programming as well as many other events.

With speeds of 1 gigabit per second, the Google Fiber network will be able to deliver ultrahigh speed broadband connections and video to homes and businesses in which the infrastructure has been installed.

"OneWorld Sports is a terrific fit with Google Fiber’s younger-skewing profile. We’re very excited to announce this important launch on Google Fiber’s high-profile, ultra-high speed service in America’s heartland," said Alexander "Sandy" Brown, president and CEO of One World Sports.

One World Sports is a sports network created to address many of the sports being played around the world. It provides programming 24/7 in English and it is available across all traditional and digital media platforms. The vast majority of the programming is exclusive live and same-day coverage of sports events. The service is available on Cablevision Systems (News - Alert) Corp. in the New York Tri-state area and on The Dish Network.
