Wimbledon, the prestigious tennis tournament, is a Grand Slam event that is viewed avidly by millions around the world. IMG Media, in conjunction with its exclusive 3D distribution, partner, GlobeCast, transferred the on-court excitement in a first-ever live HD 3D broadcast.

IMG Media, the commercial and technical advisors to the All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC), is a global sports, fashion and media business, with nearly 3,000 employees operating in 30 countries around the globe.

In a press release, Mervyn Hall of the AELTC said, “Wimbledon 2011 is the 125th championship that the AELTC hosts. Thanks to GlobeCast and IMG’s collaboration, viewers can experience the feeling and excitement of the court side seats on 3D-enabled television from the comfort of their home.”

GlobeCast Australia, a premier provider of services for International Broadcasters in Australia, New Zealand and the Pacific Islands, specializes in live digital delivery, SD and HD, and also at the cutting edge of 3D delivery in 2011.

Four key matches, the men’s semi-finals, the women’s final, and the men’s final were broadcast by GlobeCast to broadcasters around the world. Working in conjunction with IMG, GlobeCast delivered alongside 3D signals to multiple satellite platforms for Europe, Asia, and the Americas.

GlobeCast Australia partners with the world’s leading Channel Providers, Broadcasters, Sporting Federations and News Organizations to offer timely, reliable, cost-efficient and creative broadcast solutions to Australia and Internationally.

Thus, IMG, well-known for its drive, energy, creativity, and strategic direction, has, with the help of GlobeCast, helped millions of tennis fans to view the wonderful matches in a “newer, better way”.

In related news, GlobeCast transmitted its first fairytale, The Royal Wedding of Prince William and Catherine Middleton, to various major broadcasters - in HD, live and in full - in a broadcast that transfixed global audiences for several hours.
