June 24, 2010

(WORLD CUP TECHNOLOGY)
The World Cup Communication Security Meeting with Cell C, a mobile operator in South Africa, has been convened by ZTE (News - Alert) Corporation, a provider of telecommunications equipment and network solutions. The meeting is to ensure the stability and security of communications during the World Cup.

Wireless voice services, data services, transmission and other communications and security services are provided by ZTE. The real-time challenges of maintaining the extensive and complicated communications network for the global sporting event are addressed by the meeting. ZTE has also deployed its leading SDR solutions to provide services and coverage to the four major cities in South Africa, namely Cape Town, Durban, Bloemfontein and Elizabeth for 28 of the most important matches.

The communications stability and security of the World Cup stadium, fans' parks, airport, major hotels and other major entertainment areas is ensured by the SDR solution. The exclusive rights to deploy the national mobile bearer network of Cell C are also held by ZTE. This will offer the World Cup committees, players, staff and fans a mobile network with high-bandwidth and stability.

In a short span of time ZTE has set up a “Communication Security Group” to cope with the demands and requirements of communication. This group with more than 120 technical experts will provide comprehensive real-time communication support. An emergency drill was conducted by ZTE to ensure that emergency communications are able to run smoothly during the matches before the World Cup started.

During the drill, core network equipment and base stations were all checked, ensuring that they were running in good condition. To deal with unexpected breakdowns, extra emergency drills were repeatedly performed.

In a release, Rikard Slunga, Chief of Network Transformation, Cell C said, “By further acceleration and steady forward-looking planning and execution of the network rollout, ZTE can and will deliver to Cell C one of the most advanced telecoms networks in the world.

ZTE has been responsible for the communications and security of many high profile events before. The company has been verified by numerous experts that it is on the front line in protecting the operations and maintenance during the World Cup. Citizens and enthusiastic fans will be provided with fast and reliable network services.
