Stratos' AmosConnect Crew Solution to Provide World Cup Updates to Crewmembers

July 01, 2010

(WORLD CUP TECHNOLOGY)
Stratos (News - Alert) Global, a global provider of advanced mobile and fixed-site remote communications solutions, has launched its new AmosConnect Crew CommCenter satellite communications software which offers a free global news service. Ship managers were reminded by Stratos that they along with the crewmembers can now access 2010 FIFA World Cup updates through this software.

In a release, Jim Parm, CEO and President, Stratos said, 'Providing updates to major sporting events is one of the ways our new AmosConnect Crew CommCenter application helps improve crew morale. Maintaining high morale is a proven way to help ship managers retain qualified seafarers.'

Parm added operators who are dedicated to enabling seafarers to communicate onboard in the same manner as they do ashore are all praise for AmosConnect Crew CommCenter. Management preferences for simplified administration and cost control are also met by the software.

An all-in-one communication solution for crewmembers is provided by AmosConnect Crew. AmosConnect Crew is a combination of two successful services of Stratos, AmosConnect and Stratos ChatCard. Personnel at sea are able to stay in contact with home via calling, email and SMS at affordable, flat global rates with AmosConnect Crew. Each crewmember is provided an easily manageable, separate account. True onboard Internet café features, like prepaid web browsing, prepaid chatting and access to global and local news services are included in the Internet functionality of the new software version.

Crewmembers only need one prepaid Stratos ChatCard to access all modes of communication by using the latest version of AmosConnect Crew. Vessel-independent personal mailbox plus an international SMS number that can be used on any ship and on shore can also be assigned to individuals. While emails and SMS messages can be sent at a low cost, receipt of SMS messages and emails is at no cost. Users are able to easily manage their own communications budget with AmosConnect Crew.

Ship managers can control the volume of Internet usage, control the size of messages, and minimize risks for onboard systems. This is possible with the new cost-reduction and security features of AmosConnect Crew. Ship mangers will benefit on cost and time due to the minimal setup, administration and management requirements of the software.
