AlayaCare partners with Freshii to provide healthy food options to seniorsLeading technology provider AlayaCare expands its community support to help seniors in the GTA during the COVID-19 crisis TORONTO, March 31, 2020 /CNW/ - In an effort to promote the health and safety of seniors, who may be at increased risk during the COVID-19 crisis, AlayaCare and Freshii are joining forces to provide some of the essential supplies that seniors need at home. Starting March 31, 2020, AlayaCare and Freshii will work together to identify and deliver fresh food options to seniors within the GTA. Seniors in need will be identified via the AlayaCare platform, which is widely used by home and community care clients in Ontario. Freshii, to limit contact with seniors at risk, will provide healthy, prepared meals to the home and community care agencies for delivery. AlayaCare CEO Adrian Schauer, through the Madiro Fund, along with Daniel Klass of Klass Capital, Dennis Kavelman through the Kavelman Fonn Foundation and Jordan Banks, through the Moses and Temara Tobe Foundation, have collectively pledged $100,000 to support the initiative and are encouraging other restaurants and donors to support home care patients. The group of donors will also donate funds to Toronto not-for-profit community support service agencies, SPRINT Senior Care and Bellwoods Centres for Community Living, to ensure their COVID-19 Community Response Teams have the resources needed. The funds will be used to pick up essential items (medications, groceries) and deliver them to clients in need. In addition to its support of patients in need, AlayaCare and its partners wish to commend home care workers on the front-lines for their tireless efforts and hard work during the COVID-19 crisis. AlayaCare will be highlighting their stories on their @AlayaCare social media platforms using the hashtag #COVIDHeroes. AlayaCare's partnership with Freshii and financial support to SPRINT Senior Care and Bellwoods follow the recent launch of its COVID-19 electronic screening tool, which can be used by personal care workers and clinicians. The AlayaCare COVID-19 screener gives front-line workers an electronic tool that they can use to assess risk before they provide home and community-based services.
