Global Survey Examines Good, Bad and Ugly of Business Technology


SANTA CLARA, Calif., March 20, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- Companies around the globe are grappling with technologies designed to help them work better. But these technologies may actually hamper innovation; 95 percent of organizations struggle with technology designed to address their business problems. However, a trend toward adoption of Workplace Innovation Platforms is helping businesses escape the work rut and eliminate inefficiencies. These are the key findings of FileMaker, Inc., in its Workplace Innovation Report, released today.

The research, based on a global survey, identified several trends that challenge both small and medium-sized businesses and enterprise teams prior to adoption of a Workplace Innovation Platform. These include scattered information, time-consuming manual processes that could be automated, and existing technology solutions that fall short of operational needs.

Key findings include:


Prior to adoption of a Workplace Innovation Platform

  • 96 percent of business users struggled with business processes.
  • 72 percent grappled with problems with file sharing.
  • 94 percent had challenges with existing apps and software.
  • 85 percent reported that they wrestled with information living in disparate sources.

After adopting a Workplace Innovation Platform

  • 85 percent of business users saved time and money.
  • 77 percent created more efficient processes for their mobile workforce.
  • 67 percent reported increased employee satisfaction.
  • 41 percent reported increased customer satisfaction.
