Smilegate Entertainment Announces $700,000 Prize Pool for CFS 2016

Smilegate Entertainment, Inc. has officially announced plans for the global e-Sports league 'CROSSFIRE STARS 2016' (CFS 2016) for the game CROSSFIRE, the number 1 online FPS game in the world.

CFS 2016 will bring together the very best CrossFire players on the planet from June to October as they compete in the National Finals (NF) and regional qualifiers. Once a champion has been crowned in each of the 11 regions including Asia, Europe, and Latin America, representative teams will gather and compete in the Grand Finals (GF), which will take place in China this December.

With the successful initiatives of the CFS Invitational in Brazil and Vietnam last year, CFS Invitational will now be held annually and expand international tournaments for CROSSFIRE. It is currently scheduled to take place in the third quarter this year in the European and South East Asian regions. This move demonstrates Smilegate Entertainment's continuous efforts in developing the global competitive scene of CROSSFIRE.

The prize pool of CFS 2016 will be $700,000 USD, which is an enormous increase from last year's prize pot. From the total amount, $400,000 will go towards the CFS Grand Finals as an appreciation for all the CFS fans throughout the years and a leap to elevate CROSSFIRE's e-Sports scene.

Now in its 5th year, CFS is the highest level of competitive play for CROSSFIRE, the No. 1 FPS game in the world reaching over 6 million concurrent users and 500 million registered players. CFS, including NF, GF and Invitational, has showed a high viewership of 23 million online viewers, proving its value as global e-Sports content.

Ina Jang, CEO of Smilegate Entertainment, stated that "with the successful hosting of CFS Invitational last year, we have decided to establish the Invitational as an official CFS tournament and greatly augment the prize pool of CFS 2016, to develop the CFS brand which has been growing over the years," and added "not only that, but we have also initiated programs such as the Smilegate Support Program and new contents relating to e-Sports to improve the future of competitive CROSSFIRE, hoping that the community will keep showing their passion for CROSSFIRE e-Sports."
