Bright House Networks Names Finalists In Bright Ideas STEM from Today's Youth Competition

ORLANDO, Fla., Feb. 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Bright House Networks today announced the regional winners of its Bright Ideas STEM from Today's Youth competition.

This multistate competition challenges high school students to dream up the coolest inventions to make their own life, community or even the world, more awesome. To qualify, students must show how science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) can bring their idea to life.

The competition, now in its second year, drew ideas from 165 young innovators across the country. We have been truly inspired by these incredible students and the creativity and scope of their Bright Ideas."

Finalists will enjoy an all-expense-paid trip to Orlando, Fla., to compete in the Finalist Pitch Event. As part of the program, they will receive mentoring from successful innovators and entrepreneurs and get coaching in pitching their ideas and appearing on television.

The Bright Ideas STEM from Today's Youth Finalist Pitch Event will take place on March 2, 2016, at the Dr. Phillips Performing Arts Center's Alexis and Jim Pugh Theater in Orlando. Students will compete head-to-head on TV, in front of a studio audience. They will have no more than six minutes to pitch their ideas to a panel of experts, who will select one lucky winner. The program will be recorded and available via Video on Demand (VOD) on Bright House Networks.

The Grand Prize winner will have the chance to work with leading, Orlando-based product and technology innovation firm Astralis Group to build a virtual prototype and business plan to help bring the student's Bright Idea to life.

"Today's youth are our best hope for a better future," Maki explained. "Bright House Networks is proud to encourage our next generation of leaders and innovators."
