The Penn Mutual sponsorship includes the four other national championships held by NSCRO through the year, including Men's & Women's 15s and 7s.

NSCRO is the home of rugby in the U.S. for small colleges, working to foster the growth and development of rugby for collegiate men and women. As of 2015, NSCRO represents nearly 40% of all colleges playing rugby in the U.S. with over 300 teams participating in local Unions and Conferences, competing for the NSCRO Small College National Championships.

"NSCRO has spent the last year focusing on strengthening the organization to become an even greater resource for the dedicated rugby administrators, current players and coaches, as well as fans and alumni," said Stephen Cohen, President of NSCRO. "We are thrilled by the new partnership with Penn Mutual as NSCRO's Top Sponsor, allowing NSCRO to continue to grow and support the small college rugby community. The partnership with Penn Mutual transcends beyond the rugby pitch with our shared values, together looking not only to develop quality players on the field, but to foster excellence in the individuals and schools off of the field as well. We are excited by Penn Mutual's passion for rugby and commitment to NSCRO, and look forward to working together to support the next generation of American leaders, who are currently playing rugby at the small college level."

"Our Top Sponsorship of NSCRO deepens our already strong connection with the growing and loyal rugby community," said Eileen McDonnell, Penn Mutual's Chairman, President & CEO. "We are less than a year into or relationship with rugby, and we are thrilled by the reception we've received. We want to help grow this amazing sport in America, and our partnership with NSCRO will help do that. Our partnership will also help us reach many of the best and brightest men and women student athletes at small colleges with the Penn Mutual story, the career opportunities we offer across the country, and how the power of life insurance can help them get off to a good financial start in life."

Rugby is the newest Olympic sport starting in Rio 2016, and has been identified as "the fastest growing sport in America" by many, including America's Sporting Goods Manufacturer's Association and Bloomberg (News - Alert), which cites that "Participation in rugby grew 81 percent" between 2008-2013.

Penn Mutual is one of the largest and oldest life insurance companies in America, first established in Philadelphia in 1847. With its first rugby sponsorship in 2014, Penn Mutual has fast become a major player supporting the development of rugby in America.
