Giant Food, the NFL, Marva Maid and Kellogg's Help Local Schools Through Fuel Up to Play 60

(Marketwire Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) LANDOVER, MD -- (Marketwired) -- 10/31/14 -- Giant Food, the NFL, Marva Maid Dairy, and Kellogg's are teaming for a second year to support the National Dairy Council and the NFL's Fuel Up to Play 60 program. Fuel Up to Play 60, the nation's largest in-school nutrition and physical activity program, was founded under the leadership of America's dairy farmers through a relationship with the National Football League. The program is in more than 73,000 schools nationwide and helps over 38 million students make better food choices by selecting nutritious options such as low-fat and fat-free dairy products, fruits, vegetables and whole grains.

In honor of the Fuel Up to Play 60 campaign, at all Giant Food locations customers who purchase a Marva Maid product and a Kellogg's cold cereal product together in one transaction will receive one of six collectable NFL posters. The posters will feature NFL players Giovanni Bernard, Cam Chancellor, Vernon Davis, Chris Long, Jordy Nelson, and Matt Schaub. These posters are only available for a limited time -- collect all six! This year, Giant, Marva Maid and Kellogg's will provide $50,000 in grants to qualifying local schools as a part of the Fuel Up to Play 60 promotion. Portions of the grants will be distributed to schools throughout the Mid-Atlantic region that are making positive changes through their participation in Fuel Up to Play 60.

Last year, Giant Food and the Maryland & Virginia Milk Producers Cooperative provided $25,000 in grants to local schools through Fuel Up to Play 60, providing funds for students to make healthy and meaningful changes in their communities.
