Formspring Launches First Official iOS App for 26 Million Members, Introduces Photos as New Way to Respond

SAN FRANCISCO, CA, Sep 13, 2011 (MARKETWIRE via COMTEX) -- Formspring, the service that lets millions of people find out more about one another through sharing interesting and personal responses, today introduced its first native iOS application for its 26 million global members. The free app, available today in the iTunes App Store, makes it quick and easy for Formspring members to respond, ask questions, and now share photos to get friends' responses, from anywhere.

The new app marks the company's biggest move into mobile since its launch in late 2009. In the past 20 months, Formspring has grown to one of the most visited sites in the world with 30 million monthly unique visitors and tens of millions of active members. With the new mobile iOS app, the fun and interesting experience of asking friends, musicians or celebrities questions on Formspring is even easier when on the go.

A key feature in the new app, and new to the Formspring web experience, is the ability to send photos as a quick, fun way to get friends to respond to anything. Formspring members can also respond to a question from a friend with a photo, broadening the experience of using Formspring to get to know friends better.

"Formspring has always been about giving you a natural way to share your personality, and the stories that make you who you are -- with the knowledge you'll always get a response," said Formspring Founder and CEO Ade Olonoh. "The launch of our iPhone app promises an even more engaging way to stay connected with Formspring from anywhere.

With our focus on mobile for the first time, we're confident that more people will discover Formspring and access the fun, unique experience we're passionate about bringing to our members." Features on the app include: - Ask a question to your friends on Formspring or anyone in your iPhone contacts list - Send a photo from anywhere to your friends & get a response - Respond to a question with text or a photo - Smile at interesting and funny responses The app is available in iTunes today and Formspring will follow up with apps for more mobile platforms in the coming months.

How Formspring Works Formspring encourages people to find out more about each other in a simple and fun way. It starts by setting up a profile, where you can invite friends to ask you original questions or share photos they want you to respond to. Members can search for friends, musicians, celebrities or even athletes on Formspring by connecting to popular social networks including Facebook, Twitter and MySpace as well as all popular email platforms. When friends respond to questions, members see their responses, stories and now even their photos, on their Formspring home page.
