The official mobile security supplier of the Indy Racing League, sanctioning body of the IZOD IndyCar Series and Firestone Indy Lights will be served by Safefreight Technology, developer and provider of a fleet management and fleet intelligence software. Safefreight's Smartfleet system will be utilized by the Indy Racing League on all league transporters and trailers to protect these critical race assets during the season.

Indy Racing League will get far more than just security monitoring with Safefreight's technology. The system provided by the company has built-in GPS vehicle tracking, trailer monitoring, vehicle diagnostics monitoring and other functionality. The return on investment is measured by reduction in fuel consumption, mechanical driving skills analysis, enhanced mechanical vehicle performance which results in reduced maintenance costs, and also a greener and environmentally efficient fleet. This will help the Indy Racing League to utilize their fleet of vehicles more efficiently with an objective of reducing carbon emissions which has been the league’s focus on becoming more environmentally friendly.

According to Curtis Serna, Chief Executive Officer of Safefreight, the company is absolutely thrilled to be associated with the Indy Racing League, an organization with a storied history in US motorsport. With the league’s "Whatever it takes" winning attitude and dedication to excellence, it is line with Safefreight's approach to its clients and business.

The hardware component of the Smartfleet system is SecurityGuard. This is a smart device which works on both vehicles and transporters. It uses sensors and either a cellular or satellite modem to communicate to key personnel over the internet for exceptions like opened doors, accidents to speeding. The transportation management system designed by Safefreight to be applicable to a variety of trailers including commercial transportation trailers, utility trailers, including refrigeration installed trailers.

Terry Angstadt, President of the Commercial Division of the Indy Racing League said the league and its teams invest millions of dollars in equipment for the racing season. So they want to make sure they have the best possible security for the transporters. He added that the League will get peace of mind with Safefreight's SecurityGuard technology when the League’s equipment is on the road, knowing they have the best system protecting the cargo.
