Comcast-Spectacor Uses IMT Nucomm CamPac 2 Remote Camera System

January 23, 2013

Comcast-Spectacor inked a partnership agreement with Integrated Microwave Technologies (News - Alert) for the use of Nucomm CamPac2 camera-mounted transmitter and Newscaster DR2 diversity receiver. Comcast-Spectacor is the parent company of the Philadelphia Flyers and owner of the Wells Fargo Center.

Comcast (News - Alert)-Spectacor president Peter Luukko said, “We have some of the most passionate and loyal fans in all of professional sports and we wanted to make sure that their in-house experience is as enjoyable as possible.”

The CamPac2 wireless camera system is designed to handle several applications such as ENG, portable camera mounting for sports production, helicopter and UAV links besides also portable, mobile video and data links.

The wireless camera system lets users shoot without problems relating to signal loss or picture freeze. Users can optimize the fan experience using the camera. The CamPac2 is a tri-band-capable unit that operates in the unlicensed 5.8-GHz band, and the licensed 6.4- and 7.1-GHz bands.

“The camera allowed us to get incredible pictures all over the Wells Fargo (News - Alert) Center, something we thought we would never be able to achieve inside the building. From the last row of the upper bowl to the concourse and ice level, not having to worry if we will,” Luukko added.

The Newscaster DR2 diversity receiver is an upgraded version of the Newscaster DR. It features “intelligent” block down converters, for communicating to the DR2 receiver and compatibility with many operating modes. Also the DR2 can extend its antennas remotely up to 1,000 feet with the Belden 1694A cable.

Integrated Microwave Technologies or IMT has been awarded a Technical Investigative Surveillance (TechOps) contract by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security.
