Digital Rapids' StreamZ to Stream Olympics in Taiwan

July 30, 2012

(OLYMPICS TECHNOLOGY)

When it comes to the Olympic games it seems like everyone wants to see them, and the idea of watching clips of them on the news, or watching them broadcast on the television live is not enough anymore. In this digital age people seem to want to be able to see the game whenever they want to, wherever they want to. To that end a slew of companies have been going fast and furious in order to make things work for users on mobile devices all over the world.

In many places the decisions about who was going to be fit to stream and who was going to get the contracts for making it all work was decided months (or even years) ago. In other cases however decisions are being made based on the most up to date options available and companies that have not done this before are getting their shot at the gold.

Chunghwa Telecom (News - Alert), a provider of wireless and telephone technologies which is based primarily in Taiwan has decided to use Digital Rapids' StreamZ Live brand adaptive streaming encoders in order to bring the Olympic Games to its end users. The system, which will be paired with the Digital Rapids (News - Alert) Broadcast Manager multi-encoder management software will allow for live streaming of the games for users on a broad spectrum of devices for users in Taiwan.

"We are excited that StreamZ Live and Broadcast Manager have been chosen by Chunghwa Telecom to deliver live streaming coverage of the Olympics to their HiNet hichannel audience," said Clive Vickery, managing director of EMEA and Asia at Digital Rapids in a release put out by the company. "For top-tier service providers such as CHT, bringing events of this scale and importance to their viewers requires robust, reliable solutions with exceptional visual quality. We're proud to have CHT among the leading media organizations trusting our solutions for their coverage of the London Games."
