Dell SonicWALL Ensures Network Security During Olympic Games

July 26, 2012

(OLYMPICS TECHNOLOGY)

Billions of people around the world will set their eyes on TV sets, smartphones, tablets, and other devices to watch the Olympic Games for the next two weeks. And many sports fans will continue to watch these games at work using company devices, as well as their own.

Reports show that about 3,500 hours of online programming is expected. And, whether right or wrong, many employees will follow their favorite events wherever and whenever they want. A survey conducted by Dell (News - Alert) shows that 72 percent of Dell SonicWALL customers believe their employees will attempt to watch streaming event coverage, mostly on company devices.

The result can be loss of productivity, impact on bandwidth and network speeds and exposure to new threats, which can be huge. However, there is a solution to all of this, according to Dell. In fact, according to Dell, next-generation Firewalls deliver powerful network protection and bandwidth management tools. Hence, with a Dell SonicWALL (News - Alert) next-generation Firewall, users can control their networks during the games, according Dell.

For instance, said Dell, application control lets you block or limit access to online coverage, keeping employees focused. While managing bandwidth allocation to streaming media sites will ensure your business applications get the bandwidth they need. Plus, security services block threats right at the gateway and stop intrusions, viruses, spyware, and other malicious traffic. In essence, the Dell SonicWALL Firewall will scan every byte of every packet and inspect entire stream to provide you with complete control, right down to the individual user level.

Dell recently acquired SonicWALL to expand its security software and services portfolio. SonicWALL solutions are designed to detect and control applications and protect networks from intrusions and malware attacks through unique combination of hardware, software and virtual appliance-based solutions.
