New Standards of Fan Experience at Amway Center

September 30, 2010

The Orlando Magic and City of Orlando will be joined by Harris Corporation to celebrate the end of a year-long multi-million dollar project. The new Amway Center will be inaugurated on Oct 1. The most technologically advanced arena facility in North America will be unveiled for the first time at precisely 10:01 a.m.

Access will be provided to the fans at the Amway Center as event coverage to both inside and outside the arena will be accessible. Fans can enjoy captivating video in higher definition along with dramatic lighting and sounds. Fans can be assured of an overall entertainment event which will exceed anything previously experienced.

Buddy Dyer, mayor of Orlando said, "The Amway Center really is the next generation for sporting venues. With this Harris technology, the energy and immediacy of the live sports experience has been combined with the benefits of watching on your home entertainment system to create a superior fan experience."

A high-definition video production and distribution and Internet Protocol TV or IPTV (News - Alert) system make up the state-of-the-art Harris solution. The solution is integrated with digital signage. An entirely new workflow is provided to the Magic with this unique convergence of IP and broadcast technology. An exceptional, multimedia event experience is also provided to the fans.

IPTV and digital signage are combined over the same network. More than 1,100 individual screens located throughout the arena can therefore be addressed by the Magic with tailored content. High-impact replays and highlights can be shown on the displays on the fly. Similarly venue messaging, out-of-home advertising, or any combination of the three can be shown.

Harris Morris, president, Harris Broadcast Communications said, "Our partnership with the Magic and the City of Orlando has resulted in an unprecedented technology showcase for Harris and a next-generation venue for staging events that far exceed anything fans have experienced in the past. And whenever the next killer concept arrives, the uniquely scalable infrastructure we've put in place for the Magic will be ready. The fans will love the Amway Center today — but just wait until tomorrow!"
