Yahoo Goes Mobile with Winter Olympics Coverage

February 12, 2010

(OLYMPICS TECHNOLOGY)
After days of waiting, the Vancouver 2010 Winter Olympic Games are in full swing, and Yahoo doesn’t want anyone to miss out on the action.

So, the No. 2 search engine is keeping fans up to date on the latest and greatest in the Winter Olympic  sports by launching  a dedicated mobile site. The site at m.yahoo.com/olympics gives sports enthusiasts access to live results, upcoming events, medal counts, photos, news and expert commentary all on their mobile device. The site is available in English for 13 countries, including the United States, Canada, the Philippines, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Australia, New Zealand, France, Germany, Italy, and Spain.

“It’s the place to go when you’re out and about and want up-to-the-minute coverage on this year’s Games,” Yahoo said on its mobile blog.

The mobile site follows Yahoo’s rollout of a dedicated Games Web site .

The move comes as Yahoo, the No. 2 search engine, continues to search for ways to boost its status and steal market share from rival Google (News - Alert).
