SnowBus, Motion Technology to Offer Passenger Internet During 2010 Winter Games

In Motion Technology, a company specializing in mobile networking technologies that connect and manage equipment, information and people in the field, reportedly announced that it’s providing free wireless Internet access to passengers traveling on the “SnowBus” shuttle between Vancouver and Whistler, British Columbia, for the 2010 Olympic Winter Games.
This new collaboration will enable passenger of SnowBus and Bell Canada (News - Alert), to send e-mail, file stories and surf the Web as they travel between the Olympic host city and events taking place at Whistler Mountain, about 75 miles away.
Darren Berg, CEO of SnowBus’ parent company MTR Western said that as a premium transportation provider, they are constantly looking for ways to improve their services and now with this partnership with In Motion Technology (News - Alert) will let visitors keep moving and stay connected during the ride to see their favorite Olympic events.
SnowBus plans to make five daily round trips that will be powered with In Motion’s onBoard Mobile Gateway (News - Alert).
The mobile Gateway would provide reliable, secure connectivity for laptops, PDAs, iPhones and a variety of other devices. Also, its integrated GPS capability will enable SnowBus management and passengers to track the location of buses at any time. Live video will also be streamed from the buses during the games.

Various other transit agencies across North America are deploying the onBoard Mobile Gateway to keep passengers connected and build a communications platform that will support the latest fleet and network management technologies.
