Verizon to Offer NBC Universal's Coverage of 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games to Customers

Verizon will be offering NBC Universal’s (News - Alert) coverage of the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympic Games to its FiOS TV, broadband and wireless customers. Verizon Communications Inc. delivers broadband, wireless and wireline communications services to mass market, business, government and wholesale customers. 

 
As per the agreement with NBC Universal, Verizon (News - Alert) will offer subscribers access to content across multiple platforms. According to Terry Denson, vice president of content strategy and acquisition for Verizon, the advanced fiber-optic and wireless networks of Verizon will help to deliver a great Olympics experience to its customers. Denson added that customers will be able to see the content Verizon and NBC Universal offers on any screen, including video on demand, HD and Verizon Wireless' V CAST service. 
 
Verizon subscribers will be able to stay connected to the Vancouver Olympic Winter Games wherever they go. FiOS (News - Alert) TV customers will be able to watch NBC Universal's television coverage on NBC, USA Network, MSNBC, CNBC and Universal HD. While Verizon’s broadband customers will be able to catch up on all the action online, FiOS Internet customers will be able to access online content through the FiOS TV Central website.  
 
Verizon Wireless customers will also be able to see athlete profiles and video on individual sports with the NBC Olympics: Vancouver 2010 channel on V CAST Video. The customers of V CAST Video will also be able to see daily updates, results and other news from Vancouver on the NBC Sports and NBC News channels on V CAST Video and also on the NBC2Go channel on V CAST Mobile TV.
 
Verizon will provide interactive TV customers access to an on-screen interactive application with real-time medal counts, athlete bios, team USA reports and Olympic news. The interactive TV experience will be available to all FiOS TV customers during Olympics programming on USA, MSNBC and CNBC. Customers will also be able to see HD coverage of every event.
 
NBC Universal will also make highlights and full-event rewinds available on FiOS TV VOD. During the games, NBCU will offer more than 100 highlight clips in addition to up to five full-length daily event replays. Moreover, the FiOS Internet and High Speed Internet customers of Verizon will have access to more than 400 hours of live event competition and more than 1,000 hours of on-demand access to full-event replays from Vancouver.
