HONG KONG, June 26, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- The elite mobile app teams in Asia have been unveiled at the Asia Smart App Awards Summit cum Award Presentation Ceremony 2018/2019, organized by The Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA), held on 20 June 2019 at Cyberport. Hong Kong teams were sweeping five winner awards among the nine, in competing with four other finalists and also the record breaking number of applicants across the Asia Pacific this year. The best team were recognised for earning the prestigious Grand Award as well as the Gold, Silver, Bronze in three award categories.

The awards were presented to winners by the Hon Ms. Jersey Yuen, Assistant Head of Create Hong Kong of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, in recognition and support of their contribution and outstanding performance in technological innovations.

Ms. Yuen congratulated the winner who received the awards and WTIA on successfully ran the Asia Smart App Awards Summit cum Award Presentation Ceremony 2018/2019. Speaking at the same occasion, Mr. Roy Law, Chairman of WTIA, said: "We are pleased to see that the entries reach new heights this year and the quality of entrants are worth noting. With the strict judging process, independent judging panel consisting of leading local and international industry practitioners and experts, the nine award winners were first shortlisted by the initial jury from over 100 entries and then selected by the final jury for the Gold, Silver, Bronze and Grand Award winners. All awardees truly deserve praise and recognition. I wish all of them success."

There are three award categories in the Asia Smart App Awards 2018/2019, namely the Public Affairs & Social Enterprises, Commercial Application, as well as Social Life and Entertainment. Grand Award was selected from the top scoring gold winners in each category.

Bookloud, the Gold winner in Public Affairs & Social Enterprises category, was privileged to have received the trophy of the Grand Award by Ms. Jersey Yuen of Create Hong Kong. Bookloud builds a personal virtual library to manage all of book collections, search for books, and take notes, browse and search for other users' personal book collections by category, distance, keywords or ISBN.

Apart from the numerous support media and practitioners in Hong Kong and Asia Pacific region, the award presentation ceremony was honored to invite notable guests include Dr. Lawrence Cheung, the Chief Innovation Officer of Hong Kong Productivity Council and Vice Chairman of Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association; Ms. Ivy Chan, Head of Ecosystem and Collaboration of Cyberport, as well as Ms Corinna Fung, Head of Corporate Marketing of GS1.

In order to recognise the distinguished achievements of industry practitioners, in the ceremony, the Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) presented the "HKSTP Start-up Award" to UMix Music App and Samsung presented "The Most Creative Award" to Birdie.

It is the 6th edition of Asia Smart App Awards (ASA) sponsored by Create Hong Kong and organised by the Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA).

Asia Smart App Awards (ASA) is aimed to recognise the excellence of innovative smart app development and provide a platform for top smart app professionals in the region to meet, share, collaborate and learn from each other, Hong Kong Wireless Technology Industry Association (WTIA) follows up on the successful Asia Smart Apps Contest to organise ASA 2018/2019. By joining forces with the co-organisers from the Mainland, Israel, Indonesia, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand, Vietnam, Sri Lanka and Myanmar.

The Asia Smart App Awards (formerly known as the "Asian Smartphone App Contest") were first held in 2012 and have five editions so far.
