Team reveals research indicating growth for dating apps lies in emerging markets

SINGAPORE, May 18, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- A team of experts at Dating.com Group—managed by SOL Networks, the company behind numerous online dating sites including Lovinga, Tubit, Asiandate.com, and AnastasiaDate.com—participated in the GDI Singapore conference on May 13 and 14. Dating.com Group's speakers shared the results of its latest research, suggesting growth is likely to plateau at $3.74 billion in developed markets, with future growth expected in developing markets.

China, for instance, is the world's fastest growing market for online dating; leading dating companies there have earned almost $50 million in revenue from the App Store. In India, which has 600 million people in its middle class, Tinder was the top-grossing app on Google Play and the second-highest on th App Store at the end of 2018.



Yuri Papadin, Head of M&A and Corporate Development at Dating.com Group, said: "The iPhone's disruptive potential cannot be overstated. The way people conduct their lives and interact is evolving. Companies must provide creative, tailored solutions to prosper in the next decade."

The research also revealed customers are looking for more than superficial pictures and swiping. Badoo is preparing to switch swiping for live streaming after a survey of users found 68% dislike swiping. Similarly, Tinder has partnered with Foursquare to set up real-life dates, while the launch of Tinder Picks' match selections has raised paying clients by 61%.
