Tigera Wins the 2019 InfoSec Award for Best Product for Container Security from Cyber Defense Magazine

Tigera, an enterprise software company providing security and compliance solutions for Kubernetes platforms, today announced it has been recognized by Cyber Defense Magazine's editorial team as having the Best Product for Container Security in the annual InfoSec Awards competition for 2019.

In a new Forrester (News - Alert) report, "Predictions 2019: Cloud Computing," released in December, the market research firm predicts that this year's hottest trend will be making K8s easier to deploy, secure, monitor, scale and upgrade. "Powered by cloud-native open source components and tools, companies will start rolling out their own digital application platforms that will span clouds, include serverless and event-driven services and form the foundation for modernizing core business apps for the next decade," stated the report.

"With cybercrime continuing to gain momentum, surpassing global drug crime last year and projected to reach more than $1 trillion in theft and damages during 2019, we are proud to recognize Tigera as an award-winning innovator that offers a new approach to defeat these criminals," said Pierlugi Paganini, editor-in-chief, Cyber Defense Magazine.

Modern applications are architected using dynamic microservices that make heavy use of the network, which needs to be secured. Microservices are deployed using an orchestrator like Kubernetes that dynamically schedules and decommissions each service based on capacity needs and the health of each service. Tigera's software secures Kubernetes platforms by deploying a zero-trust network security model that enables security policies to adapt to the underlying infrastructure churn. The ompany's software also continuously generates audit and flow logs that are required for compliance reporting, and are unique because they contain the deep context that is required to prove adherence to security policies within Kubernetes environments.

"We're seeing the accelerating adoption of Kubernetes in the enterprise, especially in highly regulated industries such as financial services and healthcare that need to balance compliance with multiple regulations and the ability to rapidly deploy new mission-critical applications that help them stay competitive," said Ratan Tipirneni, president and CEO of Tigera. "Organizations of all kinds have an urgent need to rapidly put new applications into production quickly, and they're turning to Tigera to ensure they have strong security controls and the ability to prove compliance to speed up deployments."
