OrthoCarolina achieves MIPS reporting success using OBERD

COLUMBIA, Mo., Feb. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Charlotte, NC-based OrthoCarolina achieved significant success for Merit-Based Incentive Payment Scheme (MIPS) reporting year 2017. Using OBERD to manage the data collection and submission process, with end-to-end electronic data capture, OrthoCarolina scored 57.6 out of 60 for the Quality component, and 15 out of 15 for the CPIA component of the Composite Performance Score.

OBERD is a CMS-approved Qualified Clinical Data Registry (QCDR), integrating with EHRs and Practice Management systems for seamless data capture. The end-to-end electronic data processing not only enabled efficient data capture, but also gained OrthoCarolina bonus points for each of the 6 quality measures submitted, and a bonus point for an additional high priority measure. Furthermore, CMS applied EHR deciles, rather than QCDR deciles, further boosting the potential for OrthoCarolina to receive a positive reimbursement.

"We are thrilled with our 2017 MIPS performance, thanks to OBERD's seamless integration with AllScripts TouchWorks EHR! OBERD afforded us the opportunity to earn a positive payment adjustment,"reported Amy Crisson, Vice President, Information Services at OrthoCarolina. "We have worked with the OBERD team for many years, we appreciate their expertise and commitment to assisting clients with achieving results."

OrthoCarolina achieved maximum scores for 3 out of 7 measures, and near maximum for 3 others. The combination of a careful selection of measures and organizational commitment to achieving high compliance contributed to the high scores they achieved, reported through the Group option.

"We have successfully submitted PQRS and MIPS measures for OrthoCarolina since 2014," said Ali Hussam, Ph.D., CEO and co-Founder of OBERD. "Consistently reporting high scores is a testament to the commitment of the administrators, managers and clinical staff at OrthoCarolina."
