Bell Aliant FibreOP is transforming into Fibe
HALIFAX, July 19, 2016 /CNW/ - Bell Aliant today announced that FibreOP will transform into Fibe, the fast-growing Bell TV and Internet platform recognized as the most innovative broadband communications service in Canada. "The Bell Aliant team has delivered the best TV and the fastest Internet services to Atlantic Canadians, and now we're ready to take our broadband innovation leadership even further with Fibe," said Dan McKeen, Bell's Senior VP and Vice Chair, Atlantic. "Aligning with Fibe will deliver even more content and exclusive features to our customers across all the Atlantic provinces." With Fibe, Bell Aliant customers will see more 4K, HD and On Demand content, including new sports programming such as NBA League Pass, and exclusive Fibe TV features such as Trending, which gives a snapshot of the 5 most popula shows being watched at any given time. The move to Fibe begins this week and requires no action from customers. Bell Aliant's website, retail stores and service vehicles are being updated with the Fibe name, and a new advertising campaign begins August 1 to let customers across Atlantic Canada know that "FibreOP is now called Fibe. And it's still the best!" Bell Aliant is the communications innovation leader in Atlantic Canada. When it was privatized by BCE in 2014, the company committed to invest more than $2 billion over 5 years in new fibre and wireless networks and services across the Atlantic region. Overall, Bell plans to invest $1 billion in 2016 alone to bring Fibe to approximately 3 million homes and businesses in Atlantic Canada, Ontario and Québec, up from approximately 2.2 million at the end of 2015.
