Cape Productions Announces Expansion of Drone Video Operations at Squaw Valley | Alpine Meadows Beginning Presidents Day Weekend

SAN FRANCISCO, Feb. 10, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Today Cape Productions (Cape) – a consumer drone video service for action sports – announced that it will operate five days per week (Thursdays – Mondays) at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows beginning on February 11, 2016, the Thursday before Presidents Day Weekend. Cape is slated to continue operating on this schedule through the remainder of the ski season.

This decision marks an expansion of Cape's previous operations at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. Up until this point, Cape's filming services were exclusively offered during the resort's Dawn Patrol sessions. (Dawn Patrol gives guests the opportunity to enjoy the mountain in the morning before the lifts officially open for the day.) Dawn Patrol operations will continue, even as Cape expands to regular operating hours.

"We're extremely pleased to expand the availability of our drone video service at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows, so that each guest can relive their day on the slopes through a professionally-edited highlight video," said Jason Soll, CEO of Cape Productions. "This announcement marks another exciting milestone for Cape as we work toward our goal of bringing people together through technology that enhances our experiences, rather than demanding our attention."

Anyone interested in the Cape experience at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows can visit www.cape.com to book a specific filming time. Cape will be operating on the Knob Hill run, accessible from the top of the Red Dog lift. There will also be a Cape crew member stationed at the base of the Funitel to answer questions and coordinate reservations. The cost for a Cape video package (flming of two runs with the drone and a handheld camera) costs $99 and includes a professionally-edited highlight video. The video is delivered to a secure, personal webpage ready to share with friends and family. If a customer buys more than one package during a season, Cape will produce an extra video incorporating the customer's "best of all" footage for free.

"Partnering with Cape Productions will allow our guests to capture the exhilaration factor that we all love about snow sports," said Andy Wirth, president and CEO of Squaw Valley Ski Holdings, LLC, the parent company of Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows. "The opportunity to capture your most ripping runs from a birds-eye perspective is not a frequent one, and having a highlight reel to take home is the icing on the cake. Cape Productions has operated with the utmost safety and professionalism during our Dawn Patrol sessions, and we are thrilled to welcome them to the Knob Hill run during regular hours."

In January, Cape announced that it received a special amendment from the Federal Aviation Administration, making it the first drone video company in the United States (U.S.) legally allowed to fly within 500 feet of customers. Cape has filmed skiers in Canada since December 2014 and in the U.S. since October 2015. This winter, Cape has been operational at Squaw Valley Alpine Meadows (CA), Powder Mountain Resort (UT), Homewood Mountain Resort (CA) and Fernie Alpine Resort in British Columbia, Canada.
