As part of the agreement, members of the Select Medical faculty deliver a series of interactive presentations on topics specific to long-term acute care (LTAC) hospitals for the QuantiaMD community. In keeping with QuantiaMD's format, each presentation includes practical, easily applicable information and online polls that let members test their knowledge and gauge their attitudes towards the topics. In addition, presenting faculty participate in active question-and-answer sessions with the community at large. QuantiaMD membership is free to any verified U.S. based healthcare professional.

Extending expertise to a wider physician community
More than 225,000 physician members of QuantiaMD visit the award-winning site to collaborate with peers on key clinical and operational topics. To date, Select Medical has delivered several presentations to the QuantiaMD community, including:

Each of the presentations received the highest ratings by the QuantiaMD physician community, and more than 1,000 members have participated in the subsequent comment streams.

"We are honored to join the medical faculty of QuantiaMD and plan to use its technology to provide insights on new guidelines, as well as offer a consistent review of protocols," said Dr. Hammerman, Chief Medical Officer of Select Medical's Long-Term Acute Care Hospital Division.  "We have found that physicians really appreciate QuantiaMD's engaging format. Not only can physicians learn from faculty with medical practices very similar to their own, but they can also contribute their own insights."

Improving care collaboration and outcomes
In addition to presenting as faculty on QuantiaMD, Select Medical is using Quantia's Physician Engagement Solution to share best practices and build consensus among Select Medical's hundreds of geographically dispersed physicians, with the goal of delivering better care. "Offering this service to providers extends our clinical knowledge base and re-enforces evidence-based strategies," said Hammerman.  For example, 74 percent of those surveyed say Select Medical's interactive presentation on QuantiaMD influenced how they care for patients on mechanical ventilation; 93 percent of these physicians say they successfully decreased vent dependency after employing a strategy presented by Select Medical faculty.
