Eyeball Accelerates Growth with $1 Million Funding; Introduces New App

Eyeball, a leading online community for coaches, fans and players of amateur sports, has witnessed a year of substantial growth, marked by the introduction of its latest mobile app on the Apple (News - Alert) App Store and Google Play Store and $1 million in seed funding from Clearwater Fine Foods Inc. (CFFI) to help fund the company's continued growth, as well as a relocation of its headquarters to a bigger space.

Over the past decade, amateur sports have grown in both popularity and profit, with one study by Sports Events Magazine showing that in youth sports alone, a family with two kids playing amateur sports will spend around 14 percent of its income on the costs of playing. With that increase in interest, players, teams and fans, there is a distinct need to have an organized way for teams to communicate, coordinate and celebrate.

"At Eyeball, we recognize that amateur athletes and their fans need to stay on top of what is going on at any time, in any place," said Jay Steele, co-founder and CEO of Eyeball. "Our Eyeball ap was specifically engineered with features for real-time discussion, photos and live crowd-sourced scorekeeping and statistics. We are giving users rich, interactive communities around the players and teams that they care about most."

The investment community has also recognized the potential of the amateur sports market. In May of 2015, CFFI granted Eyeball $1 million to fund further development of the company and the Eyeball app.

"We believe in the promise of the amateur sports market and in the Eyeball strategy to provide a solution that resonates with all constituents - the teams, the players and the fans," said John Risley, chairman and CEO, CFFI.

Additionally, Eyeball's customer base has shown a significant adoption increase, with users leaning heavily on the solution's real-time team and score updates.

"Keeping people up to date on the scores at live amateur sports has never been easier. Our team is often on the road, and our fans and the parents are always eager to know the score," said Terry Sydoryk, head coach of the Calgary NWCAA Minor Midget AAA Bruins. "Eyeball takes the pain away from updating people and lets them follow along with the game in real-time."
