Spacetime Studios Reveals Call of Champions Multiplayer Online Battle Arena in Development for Mobile Platforms

Spacetime Studios, a Texas-based independent mobile game developer and publisher, has revealed Call of Champions, a real-time competitive multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) game for mobile devices. Incorporating traditional MOBA features, Call of Champions introduces new streamlined gameplay to encourage fast and furious matches. Spacetime Studios will be leveling up the competition at the South by Southwest (SXSW (News - Alert)) Interactive Festival from Friday, March 13th, to Sunday, March 15th, where event attendees will have an opportunity to play Call of Champions in a first-of-its-kind mobile exhibition tournament at the Palmer Events Center and areas surrounding Austin.

In the Call of Champions arena, players will be able to control one out of over twenty different Champions across five distinct classes, each coming equipped with their own unique playstyle and special abilities. Players will be immersed in a fiction that takes place in a time beyond the cosmos as they take on the role of a godlike entity that controls Champions in the arena for sport.

"While the concept of the mobile MOBA is not new, we feel there's significant room to improve the competitive experience, catering to the short sessions in which gamers use their mobile devices," said Gary Gattis, CEO, Spacetime Studios. "We've distilled the MOBA to its core components by removing things like item shops, minions, and jungles and adding powerups, a five-minute clock, and a full suite of crazy abilities at your fingertips. Add on eep social layers like friends, teams, and broadcast/spectator modes, and there is nothing like it on mobile."

Call of Champions is a next-generation MOBA designed for competitive gamers with tablets and mobile devices. Matches have a 5-minute limit in order to deliver exhilarating action and swift outcomes in each session while enabling players to enjoy quick games on the go. With competition in mind, Call of Champions features an expansive social toolset for players to recruit team members, plan matches, earn achievements and loot through the Call of Champions social hub, plus view or broadcast matches live.

Call of Champions will be featured in the world's first mobile exhibition tournament at SXSW in Austin, Texas from March 13th to March 15th. At the top of every hour, attendees will compete against a team of Spacetime developers live-streaming from various iconic Austin locations. Spacetime Studios will be in booth #229 at the Palmer Events Center. The SXSW Gaming Expo is free and open to the public.
