With the 2013 acquisition of ARINC, Rockwell Collins can now combine its proven IFE solutions with high-speed connectivity and applications to offer airlines a complete solution that addresses airline passenger entertainment and online needs from a single, trusted source.

APEX attendees can experience Rockwell Collins' next generation of in-flight entertainment and high-speed cabin connectivity at APEX 2014 at the company exhibit, including: ARINC Cabin Connect Rockwell Collins' ARINC Cabin Connect is the company's in-flight connectivity platform, providing benefits to both passengers and airlines. This suite of connectivity services provides crew connectivity, real-time credit card authorization and live news and sports via Inmarsat's global high-speed data network. ARINC Cabin Connect will be further enhanced thanks to Inmarsat's GX Aviation Ka-band network when it launches in 2015, offering the most extensive coverage of airline routes and the fastest broadband in the skies.


PAVES Rockwell Collins' PAVES single-aisle IFE system offers customizable cabin configurations. Airlines can select from a variety of overhead and in-seat, on-demand monitor and wireless combinations throughout the aircraft, including: PAVES Broadcast in-flight entertainment system enhances the passenger experience with a much wider range of information and entertainment content than previous overhead system offerings while significantly reducing size, weight, and power consumption.

The system's High Definition Media Server (HDMS) offers 160 gigabytes of solid-state digital audio and video storage capability, integrated pre-recorded announcements and music (PRAM) functionality with embedded Airshow 3D Moving Map, all in a single 4 Modular Concept Unit (MCU), electronics bay-mounted box.

PAVES On-demand in-flight entertainment system delivers a home-like, on-demand experience through an intuitive touch-screen HD interface backed by a robust, reliable operating system that eliminates single points of failure. The system provides flexible content storage options to suit individual airlines' needs and a quick-release mechanism makes for easy maintenance.

PAVES Wireless in-flight entertainment system enables airlines to provide passengers with Wi-Fi accessible content applications and pre-selected Web pages on personal or airline-supplied portable devices. This solution also enables airlines to brand themselves in a unique way, direct to users.

Airshow Rockwell Collins Airshow 3D Moving Map's features and performance enhancements not only deliver unparalleled 3D graphical realism, but also add even more new capabilities to what is already the industry's most popular moving map system. Features and performance enhancements include: Navigable 3D Earth with high-resolution terrain elevation data and satellite imagery Full touch-and-zoom gesturing capabilities allowing interaction in every view 360-degree panoramic views enable passengers to explore and discover the world Passenger customizable settings, including menu view placement, ticker information and unit of measure preferences Meeting airline's unique requirements for branding and flight path scripting Airshow is also available as a business aviation mobile application using an iPad via the Apple iTunes App Store. Existing Rockwell Collins Airshow 4000 or Venue HD cabin management system users will be able to take advantage of the new app through a system upgrade. The new Airshow application leverages iPad technology, including its gyroscope and accelerometers, to create a dynamic experience tailored to each user. Highlights include: An industry-first panorama view that allows passengers to see a moving map of the outside world from any direction the iPad is pointed - as if the aircraft were transparent.

Intuitive, touch-enabled interaction with multiple maps and information displays, and the ability to control the Airshow ticker, which scrolls key information related to the flight such as estimated time of arrival.
