LA2015 Announces Media Registration Now Open for Special Olympics World Games Los Angeles 2015


LOS ANGELES --(Business Wire)--

LA2015, the Organizing Committee for the 2015 Special Olympics World Games, has announced that media registration is now open online to those interested in applying for media credentials. The Special Olympics World Games in Los Angeles will be the world's largest sports-and-humanitarian event in 2015, bringing together more than 7,000 athletes and 3,000 coaches from 177 countries, and cheered on by more than 500,000 spectators. The star-studded Opening Ceremony will be held on Saturday, July 25, at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, site of the opening of the 1932 and 1984 Olympics.

The 14th Special Olympics World Summer Games will be held from July 25 to August 2, 2015 and will feature 25 Olympic-type sports: Aquatics, Athletics, Badminton, Basketball, Bocce, Bowling, Cycling, Equestrian, Football, Golf, Gymnastics, Half Marathon, Handball, Judo, Kayaking, Open-Water Swimming, Powerlifting, Rollerskating, Sailing, Softball, Table Tennis, Tennis, Triathlon, Volleyball, and Beach Volleyball. These games will showcase the unlimited potential of people with intellectual disabilities - the largest disability population in the world.

Members of the media wishing to apply for media credentials must visit www.LA2015.org/registration and click on the "Media" registration link in order to fully complete all fields and submit a registration request. To ensure that the correct credentials are issued, media are encouraged to review the form for accuracy before submitting your request online. Confirmation will be made by e-mail upon completion of the form.

Please note that press credentials for the World Games are allocated to media professionals only (recognized television and radio organizations, daily or weekly newspapers, national magazines, web-based organizations generating original editorial content and photographic organizations with online, newspaper and magazine clients). The deadline for media registration is June 1, 2015.
