TetherGuard Makes a Splash at the Play It Again Sports Summer Trade Show

(PR Web Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) Buffalo, MN (PRWEB) July 31, 2014 TetherGuard Sports Products, LLC announced today that they introduced a new Play It Again Sports Edition of their TetherGuardTM product. Play It Again Sports is a major sports retailer with almost 300 franchised stores.

After taking orders for the custom branded tethers at the Summer Play It Again Sports Summer Trade Show in Las Vegas, Alan Codkind, CEO of The TetherGuard said, "We were very pleased with the response it received. We were busy throughout the show with discussions with franchisees about how TetherGuard could impact their business." TetherGuard prevents the accidental loss of golf head covers by anchoring them to each other or to golf bag hardware, causing them to "dangle not drop" when pulled or separated from the club.

The Play It Again Sports Edition is customized with its logo and colors, generating branding impressions on each tether installed on a head cover. In addition, the Play It Again Sports Edition may be further customized with the store information, tournament names, or any other promotional messages that the store owner wishes to add, with up to four colors.

The TetherGuard team talked with scores of store owners throughout the trade show but Codkind said that the focus of discussions ultimately came down to whether stores were potentially leaving hundreds of dollars on the table by not offering the product as a highly intuitive and cost-justified cross-sell.

"Many golf clubs often have unique and hard to replace, but easy to lose, head covers. Wouldn't you consider it a wise choice to ensure that you will not have to deal with the frustration, aggravation and added costs associated with losing one of those head covers? Replacement head covers alone can cost between $20 and $75 -- even more if you need to buy a new matched set of three," Codkind concluded.

Pat Quinn, the Brand Director of Play It Again Sports, said, "We are pleased that TetherGuard Sports Products has chosen to create a custom branded version of their TetherGuard product with our logo and colors. It was very well received at the Play It Again Sports Summer Trade Show in Las Vegas by our franchisees." He added, "And as a branded product, it serves as a reminder of where the product was purchased as well as to reinforce our commitment to bringing new and innovative sports products to market." Commenting on the economics of the opportunity, Mr. Quinn said, "Given that head covers are generally used on clubs that cost hundreds of dollars, the $15.99 incremental cost for three tethers as an ounce of prevention is a simple solution to an age old problem." Almond Kreb, franchisee owner of a Play It Again Sports store in Buffalo Minnesota, concurred. "I think TetherGuard is a great product. Its benefit for golfers is obvious and requires very little extra sales effort when selling clubs with head covers. That's a new revenue source for us that is intuitive and easy to justify." He also added, "I especially like the fact that the custom branding provides marketing exposure in our area and helps us to position ourselves as a provider of new and exciting golf accessories." TetherGuard Sports Products, LLC is focused on addressing the opportunities made possible by the inadvertent loss of golf head covers. The company's formula for success is to provide a meaningful, cost-effective and high quality accessory for golfers. It plans to reach them through the leveraged channels of sporting good chains, golf stores, pro-shops, internet retailers, and pro shops that can benefit from custom branding and increased cross-selling opportunities of golf equipment.
