BRIEF: FOOTBALL: Interviews conducted for Permian coach

Jan 10, 2013 (Odessa American - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Permian remains on track to have a new head football coach by Friday afternoon.

ECISD athletics director Todd Vesely said the three finalists for the job -- Gregory-Portland head coach Matt Anastasio, Buda Hays head coach Blake Feldt and Austin Westlake associate head coach Ted Willmann -- were in Odessa Wednesday and participated in a round of formal interviews. Anastasio and Willmann are former Permian assistant coaches, and Feldt is a Midland High graduate who once was an assistant coach for the Panthers' District 2-5A foe.

"Spectacular," Vesely said. "We held three really good interviews today." Vesely, who declined to elaborate on the meetings, said late Wednesday afternoon that no other interviews had been scheduled for today. He said he still expects to recommend a hire to the ECISD Board of Trustees when it meets at noon Friday.
