TelVue launches HD/SD Simulcast System with Bloomfield, NJ access TV station
Dec 04, 2012 (TELECOMWORLDWIRE via COMTEX) --
TelVue Corp. (OTC: TEVE) said it has launched the latest HD/SD Simulcast System in conjunction with WBMA-TV, the government access TV station for the town of Bloomfield, NJ.
WBMA-TV becomes a pioneer in the world of public, educational, and government broadcasting by making its channel available 24x7 to viewers in full HD quality video on the Internet while maintaining its standard definition simulcast channel for cable distribution. By implementing TelVue's HD/SD Simulcast, WBMA-TV can now be viewed in HD on any device that can access an Internet stream.
"So many PEG stations are already shooting and editing in HD and it's been a point of frustration for the stations and their viewers that these channels are not available in HD. TelVue's HD/SD Simulcast System finally gives PEG stations a cost-effective way to show off their channels in High-Definition," said Jesse Lerman, president and CEO of TelVue. "Broadband Internet adoption has reached the point where every community TV station can launch a 24x7 HD channel using the Internet, adding even more value to the service they provide."
The HD/SD Simulcast System makes WBMA-TV's live, linear, and VOD signals available in HD on all devices, ranging from the large-screen TV to PCs, tablets, and smartphones. The system combines the best features of both IP and SDI workflows, and supports standard MPEG-2 and modern H.264 codecs. Broadcast to multiple devices is made possible through the use of TelVue CloudCast, a cloud-hosted broadcast service for Internet video.
WBMA-TV programming covers all aspects of community life: from government, to sports, cultural events, and news.
TelVue is a broadcast technology innovator and leader that helps video broadcasters automate their channels, expand their audiences across multiple screens, and broaden their ability to monetise their content. The company's website is at http://www.TelVue.com
