BRIEF: December donations to The Blood Alliance also help The Joshua Frase Foundation
Dec 03, 2012 (The Florida Times-Union - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Double down when you donate blood during December.
The Blood Alliance is donating $1 to The Joshua Frase Foundation for each blood donation made at its donor centers this month. The donations will honor the boy's brief life and the work of the foundation named after him to fund medical research in Myotubular Myopathy. The alliance is also donating $5 for every 50 online accumulated ePoints donated back by donors this month in its Hero Rewards Store at eDonor at www.igiveblood.com.
Joshua died Dec. 24, 2011 at age 15. His father, Paul Frase, is president and founder of the foundation (www.JoshuaFrase.org) and a former Jaguars football player. Myopothy causes abnormal development of a baby's muscle cells, resulting in muscle weakness as they grow and making simple tasks like eating, breathing and crawling impossible.
To make an appointment to donate blood, visit www.igiveblood.com, use the Blood Alliance's iPhone and Droid App (iDon8), or call (888) 998-2243.
