Another 'Twilight' weekend. News Corp. eyes Simon & Schuster

The Skinny: Today's Morning Fix comes to you from our nation's capital, where it is crisp and cool. Remember Thanksgiving is about family, not about getting in line at Wal-Mart. Wednesday's headlines include a look at the holiday box office, a new deal for Time Warner Chief Executive Jeff Bewkes and a review of "Life of Pi." Daily Dose: Dish Network subscribers in Los Angeles probably won't be seeing many Lakers games this season. Time Warner Cable, parent of SportsNet, which has the rights to the Lakers, said Thursday that "despite our best efforts" Dish has elected not to carry the channel or its Spanish-language companion, Deportes.

No end in sight for "Twilight." The final chapter of the "Twilight" franchise -- "Breaking Dawn: Part 2"-- should have no problem dominating the movie box office over the long holiday weekend. Industry estimates have the movie taking in $50 million. Also opening is the animated "Rise of the Guardians" and director Ang Lee's "Life of Pi." Staying put. Time Warner Chief Executive Jeff Bewkes has signed a new five-year deal that will keep him at the helm of the media giant through 2017. With his own future secure, Bewkes now needs to decide who will lead Warner Bros. and CNN, both of which will soon have big openings to fill. Double booking. News Corp., parent of book publisher HarperCollins is eyeing CBS' Simon & Schuster, according to the Wall Street Journal. CBS CEO Leslie Moonves has in the past indicated that if the price is right, it could be for sale. News Corp. is on a buying spree as of late, having just reached a deal to buy 49% of the YES Network, which is the cable channel owned by the New York Yankees. No longer a turkey. NBC executives will be extra thankful tomorrow as the network won the November sweeps in the key 18-49 demographic for the first time in too many seasons to count. Driving the network's performance are "The Voice," "Sunday Night Football" and the new drama "Revolution." NBC Entertainment Chairman Bob Greenblatt gets to do a little bragging.
