Police release video footage of shooting

Nov 13, 2012 (The Roanoke Times - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) -- Roanoke Police have released a surveillance video from the Shell Station where three men were shot on Nov. 5, in hopes the public will help identify individuals involved in the incident.

Police spokeswoman Aisha Johnson said officers were patrolling in the 2900 block of Hershberger Road when they heard gunshots. The video shows a fight break out among a large crowd of people gathered outside the station.

Johnson said officers saw the crowd disperse quickly as they arrived on scene. Several men can be seen lying on the ground. The three Roanoke men who were shot, 37-year-old Frank Cooper, 20-year-old Joshua Tyree Poindexter and 25-year-old Antonio Jermaine Gravely, were all transported to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, although Gravely went via private vehicle.

An officer can be seen chasing after a man he saw attempting to conceal a handgun, according to Johnson. The officer did not apprehend him because of the large crowd.

Two handguns were found at the scene.

All witnesses have provided very limited cooperation, according to Johnson. Police want to speak with all of the individuals in the video.

Police have identified four men in the videos and photos that they would specifically like to locate: -A black male wearing a flannel shirt and tan pants who was in the frame at 9:23:23.

-A black male wearing a blue and white shirt, checkered pants, a gray and blue jacket and a blue baseball cap who was in the frame at about 9:28:27.

-A black male wearing blue pants, a blue long sleeve shirt or jacket and black and white high top sneakers seen in the parking lot video with a handgun at about the 9:28:33 mark.

-A black male wearing blue pants and a black sweatshirt seen in a surveillance video from inside the store, viewable here: https://vimeo.com/53453793 No arrests have been made in the case. Anyone with information is asked to call Roanoke Police Department at 540-853-5959 or Crime Line at 540-344-8500.
