YOUTH ROUNDUP: Locals athletes fare well at State Hershey Meet

Approximately 30 Yuba-Sutter youths competed at the Hershey State Meet on June 17 in San Jose and several turned in solid performances in both track and field events.
In the girls 9-10-year-old division, Darcy Gillen placed first in the softball throw with a toss of 120 feet, 9 inches. Her throw was a full 30 feet further than the nearest competitor.
Maddie Kunkle took second in the 200-meter run (33.78 seconds), third in the 400 (1:20.06) and fifth in the standing long jump (5-4), Janel Hess was fourth in the 50 (8.48), Avrial Estrada placed sixth in the 400 (1:23.13) and Kaitlyn Robinson took sixth in the standing long jump (5-3.5).
In the boys 9-10-year-old division, Isaac Gomez placed second in the 200 (31.44) and third in the 100 (14.9), while Justin Mills took fifth in the 400 (1:17.06).
Omari Davis was seventh in the softball throw (101-3) and eighth in the 400 (1:18.88), and Matthew Fish placed seventh in the standing long jump (5-9.5).
In the girls 11-12-year-old division, Jordyn Mills took first in the 200 (28.8) and was third in the 400 (1:07.74), while Ciara Ruffin was first in the 100 (14.11) and fifth in the 200 (30.2).
Ellie Bell placed third in the 800 (2:51.08), and Nadia Love took sixth in the standing long jump (6-6.25) and seventh in the 400 (1:12.01).
In the boys 11-12-year-old division, Mark Clark led the way by placing second in the 200 (28.14), second in the standing long jump (7-7.5) and fourth in the 100 (13.87), while Bryce Kunkle took fourth in the softball throw (134-3) and seventh in the 400 (1:05.93).
In the boys 13-14-year-old division, Dante Love was second in the 1600 (5:08.44) and third in the 800 (2:14.11), and Trey Slade took eighth in the softball throw (168-6).
Rachel Lego took fifth in the 1600 (6:41.58) in the girls 13-14-year-old division.
LITTLE LEAGUE
JUNIOR BASEBALL
Wheatland 8, Olivehurst-Linda 7
Zackary Bodey went 3 for 5 with two RBIs, including the game-winning hit in the bottom of the seventh inning to lead Wheatland to a walk-off victory over Olivehurst-Linda at Marysville High School on Tuesday night.
John Scruggs finished the game 3 for 4 with a pair of RBIs, Camron Butler went 2 for 4 and drove in two runs and Jared Shumway was 3 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored for Wheatland.
Colby Milligan struck out 10 over five innings to record the win.
Nathan Furr went 2 for 4 with an RBI and Ryan Border drove in three runs to lead the way for Olivehurst-Linda.
