June 17, 2010

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)
The Sponsor Me Hawaii Ala Moana Bowls Contest has just kicked off and those surfing enthusiasts who could not fly to Hawaii can at least catch the action live on their mobile devices, including the iPhone (News - Alert) and iPad.

Whether on your work desk or on your daily commuting trail, a glimpse of the Aloha adventure through your mobile device will sure to give you a good deal of adrenaline rush. It is the Sponsor Me Hawaii and Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation that are making it a reality through live action sports IP backhaul HD broadcast -- first time in the action sport's history.

Day one of the Sponsor Me Ala Moana Contest entered in the record books for the world's first successful IP backhaul live broadcast. "Finally technology has caught up with reality. It's great to be part of this game-changing HD broadcast," Chris Carmichael, the co-founder of the contest has commented.

Chris Carmichael showcased the world's first IP backhaul streaming live on both the iPAD and iPhone simultaneously. "We could not be happier with the outcome of day one's success. It is all about ease of use and accessibility to the end user," Chris said in a live interview during the live broadcast.

Ala Moana Bowls Event draws the sports' lovers attention big time. Some eminent professional surfers are participating in this year's Sponsor Me Ala Moana Bowls Event.  There are Sponsor Me's own Makua Rothman, Sunny Garcia, Jamie O' Brien, Roy Powers, Poncho Sullivan, and two-time defending Bowls champ Flynn Novak among others.

Alongside the established pro-surfers, amateurs will also get the chance to showcase their skills in a 2-Star Pro-Am Surf Contest. The most talented among them will walk away with a cool $25,000 cash prize and will also get the chance to Qualify for the $1 Million Vans Triple Crown of Surfing Series.

During the live broadcast and simulcast of day ones event, professional surfer Makua Rothman took to the microphone at the booth and said, "Ala Moana produces some of the heaviest waves on the island if not the world. Ala Moana is a premiere surf spot on the south shore." "The Sponsor Me Hawaii Ala Moana Event has set a new standard for surfing," he also commented in connection with the streaming live to the internet, iPad and iPhone.

Pro surfer Sunny Garcia said, "This is one of the most hyped contests I have ever been a part of. I can't believe Sponsor Me has the contest on the iPAD and iPhone. This is huge for the surf industry."

Professional Sports Caster Greg Tomlinson said, "The live contest stream on my iPhone is unlike anything I have ever seen. The clarity is amazing."

Sponsor Me Hawaii is a great opportunity for athletes on the rise and the local community,' said Steve Sommers, Marketing Director at Sony Electronics.

Day two and the finals of the Sponsor Me Ala Moana Contest will be in the coming week depending on weather and surf conditions.

Ubiquity Broadcasting Corporation using Sony HD Cameras will be broadcasting day two of the Sponsor Me Ala Moana Bowls contest live in HD by utilizing a live IP backhaul.
