August 19, 2013

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

Companies like iStreamPlanet are bringing fans of various sporting events all new ways to take in those events. The company just recently announced that it will be able to bring live video streaming of the ultra-popular cycling event known as the USA Pro Challenge.

The race, set to start today, August 19, will take place over the course of seven days across the state of Colorado. Thanks to iStreamPlanet, viewers will be able to watch the races using their iOS, Android (News - Alert) and Web-connected mobile devices.

Robin Cole, vice president of marketing for iStreamPlanet, recently talked about the value of bringing this kind of content to mobile and Internet-connected devices, saying, "Studies show that consumers watch live content on connected devices up to 10 times longer than on-demand content. By providing a live video workflow solution capable of delivering an exceptional viewer experience, we're able to meet the growing viewer demand for multiscreen access to live sporting events like the USA Pro Challenge."

iStreamPlanet’s live video solution includes RTMP and media processing and has HD streaming that can get up to 1080p. But iStreamPlanet will not be bringing this particular race to its viewers all on its own. The company will be teaming up with 39T Digital, which will actually be handling the production services as well as bringing users the TourTracker. People will be able to see the race through TourTracker applications that are available on iOS and Android devices.

Shawn Hunter, CEO of the USA Pro Challenge, is clearly on board with bringing this level of technology to his sport. In the statement announcing the partnership, Hunter said that iStreamplanet was the logical choice for this kind of service. Hunter added that the combination of the event itself being one of the most exciting in the world, coupled with the live streaming abilities would make this year’s version extra special.
