iStreamPlanet to Provide Live Video Streaming of Pro Challenge Professional Cycling Race

August 13, 2013

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

In the past, sports outside of football, basketball and baseball were very hard to come by on any type of broadcast. Today, there are so many sports being broadcast it makes you wonder if some of the events are even sports. Cycling is a sport, and even though recent events have cast a black eye on it, there are many cyclists who compete without being doped up. The USA Pro Challenge is a race taking place over seven days in Colorado starting on the 19th of August, and this year iStreamPlanet will be providing a live video stream of the event.

Viewers can watch the race live with Android (News - Alert), iOS, and Web-connected devices from virtually anywhere. The video solution will include Real-time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) ingest, media processing to output adaptive bitrate HLS and HDS streams up to 1080p, as well as publishing.

The iStreamPlanet multiplatform live video workflow solution provides high-quality streaming video events to connected audiences around the world. The company has a complete line of cloud-based video workflow products and services for live events and live linear streaming channels. The service it provides has been used by some of the most recognized brands in sports, entertainment and technology, including NBC, Turner Broadcasting (News - Alert), Notre Dame Athletics, AMC Networks, AT&T and Microsoft.

"Studies show that consumers watch live content on connected devices up to ten times longer than on demand content. By providing a live video workflow solution capable of delivering an exceptional viewer experience, we're able to meet the growing viewer demand for multiscreen access to live sporting events like the USA Pro Challenge," said Robin Cole, vice president of Marketing for iStreamPlanet.

The USA Pro Challenge, also known as America’s Race, started in 2011 and has quickly become a fan favorite with over one million annual fans onsite. The course has altitudes of more than 12,000-feet with treacherous climbs. The seven stages will cover Stage 1: Aspen/Snowmass (Circuit); Stage 2: Aspen – Breckenridge; Stage 3: Breckenridge - Steamboat Springs; Stage 4: Streamboat Springs - Beaver Creek; Stage 5: Vail (Time Trial); Stage 6: Loveland - Fort Collins; and Stage 7: Denver (Circuit).

"iStreamPlanet's deep expertise in live video streaming, and specifically in streaming multi-day, multi-location events like the Tour de France, make them the obvious live video partner for the USA Pro Challenge. We're confident that the combination of the exciting, live race coverage and iStreamPlanet's live streaming services will deliver an amazing viewing experience for our global, multiscreen audience," said Shawn Hunter, CEO of the USA Pro Challenge.
