Teledyne DALSA Delivers Frame Grabbers to Power Replay's freeD System at AT&T Stadium

Replay Technologies Inc. recently installed its freeD sports replay system at AT&T (News - Alert) Stadium (formerly Cowboys Stadium) in Arlington, Texas, for the NBC Sunday Night football. The replay system will be powered by the latest cameras and frame grabbers supplied to it by Teledyne DALSA.

Replay explained that the technology behind the freeD system works by capturing reality not as just a two dimensional, stereoscopic representation, but as a true three dimensional scene, comprised of three dimensional ‘pixels’ that faithfully represent the fine details of the scene. This information is stored in a freeD database, which can then be tapped to render any desired viewing angle from the detailed information.

Teledyne DALSA said that it delivers the most reliable and versatile family of frame grabbers combining performance with advanced feature sets, great value and extensive camera support. The company’s Falcon2 cameras provide an extensive feature set including programmable exposure time via Camera Link interface or additionally by external hardware signals, and selectable aspect ratios (4:3 and 1:1). It features advanced CMOS technology to deliver high speed, high resolution imaging with true global shutter operation along with reproducing high quality images of fast-moving objects without smear or distortion.

The AT&T stadium will feature 24 Teledyne DALSA Falcon2 CMOS cameras to give highly detailed input into the freeD replays during the Cowboys/Giants NFL game to be broadcast on NBC Sunday Night Football.

While the Teledyne DALSA Xcelera frame grabbers – optimized for Falcon2 series will be at the control room of the stadium to capture the camera data and to interface with the freeD system.

Teledyne DALSA added that its cameras and frame grabbers for AT&T Stadium and as its freeD system is adopted at venues across North America. Together, they are enabling new user experiences and levels of interactivity for the viewer with the highest possible image quality.
