Three big sports events to look forward to this year

April 07, 2021

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

If you are into sports, you can look forward to the rest of 2021 that will be filled with lots of different sports events. Due to the covid-19 pandemic, many sports events got canceled last year, and most of these events have been postponed to this year which means that 2021 will hopefully be packed with lots of sports. The covid-19 pandemic has been hard on many things this past year, and this also includes the sports events where it has been very uncertain when it has been possible to return to normal conditions. Nonetheless, there is hope for the future, and now that most people are starting to get vaccinated, there is reason to be optimistic about this year and all the major sports events that are supposed to take place this year. If you enjoy sports just as much as we do, it is never too soon to get excited about the upcoming sports events. In the article below, you can read about three major sports events that you can look forward to this year.

UEFA Euro 2021

The summer of 2020 was supposed to have been a great summer with both the Olympics and the UEFA European Football Championship on the schedule. The scandinavian teams were supposed to do well this year, with countries like Denmark and Norway who qualified and who had the home turf advantage. Fotballkanalen.com knows the ins and outs of the scandinavian teams and how EURO 2020 that now instead, has been postponed to this year, and the tournament is set to take place from June 11th to July 11th. To celebrate the tournament turning 60 years, the UEFA Euro 2021 will take place in 12 different cities in 12 different countries across Europe. Therefore it is quite positive that more and more people are being vaccinated, so the tournament won’t risk being postponed once again. If everything goes well, we can look forward to a month filled with a lot of great soccer, and hopefully it will be possible to fill the stadiums across Europe with some fans to create that special sense of community that soccer is so great at. 24 teams are participating, but who will be crowned the European Champions? It is probably still too soon to predict, but France could very well be the favorites considering the fact that they were crowned the World Champions in 2018. If you like betting on soccer, you can start your research now in order to have the best chances of winning once the tournament begins.

The Olympics

Another major sports event that was supposed to take place in 2020 was the Olympics. Unfortunately, it also got canceled and postponed due to covid-19, and it would have been impossible to go through with the event in 2020 due to the size of the Olympics. But now it is time to get your hopes up once again, and the 32nd Olympics is set to begin in four months in Tokyo, Japan. Hopefully it will be possible to go through with the Olympics because otherwise there is a risk that the event will get canceled for the first time since the Second World War. Nonetheless, our fingers are crossed for a summer filled with the Olympics and a lot of talented athletes who are competing to become the best.

Tennis tournaments

Besides the UEFA Euro 2021 and the Olympics, there are also several exciting tennis tournaments to look forward to this year, if you are into tennis. Both Wimbledon, French Open, US Open and other major Grand Slam tournaments got canceled in 2020 due to covid-19 and luckily, it doesn’t seem like they will get canceled this year. The Australian Open has already been conducted earlier this year, and therefore there is good reason to be optimistic about the rest of the major tennis tournaments this year. Hopefully, you can look forward to seeing the best tennis players in the world fighting to become the champion.
