(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

I literally don’t go anywhere without my smartphone. I can’t tell you how many times my heart has skipped a beat when I was away from my iPhone (News - Alert) for two seconds – and this is how many people feel about their smartphones, as well as tablets and phablets. I mean my whole life is pretty much organized by my apps – anything thing you can possibly think of, indeed, there is an app for it.

Unsurprisingly, every company is trying to grab a piece of the app pie, and it was only a matter of time before major sports leagues stepped right on in. Thus, with a little bit of help from the Fox Sports Go App for tablets, the Super Bowl can be right in your living room.

Last Friday Fox Sports announced that it would be streaming the NFC wild-card game between the 49ers and the Packers on Sunday though the Fox Sports Go app. This may not seem like much of a feat, but it marks a date in history as the first time an NFL telecast was streamed on the Fox Sports Go app.

The app is every tech-obsessed sports fanatic’s dream – it was released in October of last year and it provides live streaming of the new cable networks Fox Sports 1 and Fox Sports 2. The app allows smartphone and tablet users to enjoy the game from anywhere they choose, which is sure to get fans riled up.

As the Super Bowl draws nearer, you can expect the app to gain popularity, largely due to the sheer convenience and up-close and personal take of the game its live streaming provides. You no longer have to freeze your fingers off at the big game. Just grab a beer and a bowl of popcorn, charge your smartphone or tablet and secure your front row seats with the Fox Sports Go app.
