Vunder Sports Network to Launch New OTT Service Powered by BI's CodecSys

November 27, 2012

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

Vünder Sports Network, an OTT/IPTV (News - Alert) broadcaster, is set to deploy the CodecSys transcoding platform for its over-the-top (OTT) sports network.

CodecSys was developed by Broadcast International, a provider of managed video solutions, including digital signage, OTT networks, IPTV, and live/on-demand content distribution for the enterprise.

Broadcast International (News - Alert) and Vunder have signed a three-year contract, under which both companies will share revenue, estimated to be more than $500,000.

BI's CodecSys is developed on cutting-edge, multi-codec video compression technology that allows Vünder to distribute its high-value content across its IP-based networks throughout the world.

“There is a tremendous market opportunity to bring global sports content to targeted audiences around the world,” Matt Wunderli, CEO at Vünder Sports, said in a statement. “We aim to meet the growing demand for alternative sports programming by enabling fans of international sports to follow their favorite teams and sports that are not otherwise available. Our goal is to bring internationally popular sports to the local fan no matter where they live in the world.”

Vünder Sports Network is a broadcasting company with exclusive rights to niche-sports programming. This contract is beneficial for Vünder’s subscribers as they will be able to access live and previously recorded events, as well as adventure sports programming.

Steve Jones, general manager of the Video Software Division at Broadcast International, said, “The CodecSys transcoding platform will provide the Vünder Sports Network with broadcast quality content at low bandwidth across multiple platforms including mobile devices, utilizing the CodecSys transcoding technology allows Vünder to distribute its high-value content across its IP-based networks throughout the world more efficiently and cost effectively.”

“This agreement,” he said, “gives us the flexibility to share in the rapid revenue growth of our customers.”
