Aruba and YinzCam Collaborate to Provide Improved Wi-Fi in Stadiums

October 24, 2012

Aruba Networks (News - Alert), Inc. and YinzCam recently announced that they will be collaborating over the integration of Aruba’s high-density, application-aware wireless LAN (WLAN) solution and the advanced mobile sports applications from YinzCam, to provide fans in stadiums with an improved wireless experience. Leveraging the joint solution, venue owners, and service provider partners will now be able to offer fans with affordable access to HD video instant replay and live camera angles, among other value-added applications and services.

In a statement, Steve Schulze, CIO, United Center, said that, “With a seating capacity of 23,000, fan experience and network reliability are imperative to our event operations. Aruba Networks’ infrastructure not only supports our mobile employee access and public Internet access needs, but is foundational to many new fan services. As host to more than 200 events per year and 40 million guests, we have been relying on Aruba to provide the most reliable, high-capacity Wi-Fi access for multimedia value-added services for over seven years.”

Sports teams and public venue owners are keen on deploying reliable and faster wireless connectivity solutions which support access to in-demand and new applications to help enhance viewer experience in stadiums, and auditoriums as well as other public venues.

The collaboration between Aruba and YinzCam will help in developing a robust stadium Wi-Fi solution incorporating Aruba’s advanced WLAN solution and YinzCam’s mobile applications. The joint solution will feature video servers from YinzCam and user-based quality of service (QoS) solutions from Aruba.

The solution will provide these public venues with advantages which include – a high-density and application-aware Wi-Fi access to ensure fast, jitter-free, distributed video replay to the Wi-Fi-enabled smartphones of fans within venues; QoS spanning the seats, suites and luxury boxes, within even the largest venues; differentiated service and application delivery that is based on identity, loyalty status, location, event and date; as well as improved network security to secure venue infrastructure, fans, and team reputation.

The United Center stadium in Chicago, Illinois, will be among the first venues to deploy the joint solution from Aruba and YinzCam.
