Hamilton Bulldogs Have a New Official Broadcaster: TVA Sports

October 05, 2012

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

The Montreal Canadiens’ developmental team, the Hamilton Bulldogs, will be appearing on TVA Sports this season, thanks to an agreement made between TVA Sports and the American Hockey League.

Today, TVA Sports was officially named the Official French Language Television Broadcaster of the Hamilton Bulldogs. The Hamilton Bulldogs will square off against the Toronto Maple Leafs developmental team, the Toronto Marlies, in the inaugural game on October 20 at 7 p.m.

Viewers will get the privilege of listening to the game’s play-by-play by a veteran broadcast team, commentator Michel Langevin, analyst Yvon Pedneault and Enrico Ciccone reporting from the ice.

“TVA Sports is proud to provide fans with high-level professional hockey starting in October,” said Pierre Dion, president and CEO for the TVA Group. “Up-and-coming Canadiens talent will be showcased early on in the Bulldogs’ season, and this agreement allows fans to follow the progress of future NHL stars such as Louis Leblanc, Brendan Gallagher, Nathan Beaulieu and Jarred Tinordi."

The Bulldogs’ developmental success has been phenomenal with four division titles and one Calder Cup since 2002. They have also produced current Canadiens players Carey Price, Max Pacioretty, David Desharnais, Tomas Plekanec and P.K. Subban.

Said AHL president and chief executive officer, David Andrews: "The American Hockey League has long had a terrific fan base in Quebec and among all of French-speaking Canada. I am certain that TVA Sports’ viewers will enjoy seeing the Canadiens of the future in action today."

TVA Sports already has a number of partnerships, airing such sporting events as UFC, the Toronto Blue Jays, the Montreal Impact, the Ottawa Senators, the Memorial Cup and many others. Hopefully TVS Sports viewers will get the opportunity to see more up-and-coming stars who rival the Bulldogs’ past talent.

For Quebecois sports fans, this agreement comes as good news.
