Boingo Wi-Fi Network Improves Gaming Experience for Chicago White Sox Fans

Chicago White Sox fans will have something more to cheer about as Boingo Wireless Inc, recently announced that it has been selected to manage public Wi-Fi access at U.S. Cellular Field, home of the Chicago White Sox. Boingo’s (News - Alert) network, which has been deployed at the ballpark, will help enhance the gaming experience for fans of the White Sox and will help keep guests connected.

In a release, Brooks Boyer, senior vice president of Sales and Marketing for the White Sox, said that, “The elevated expectation of fans to share their ballpark experience through social channels, and augment the game with real-time statistics from MLB (News - Alert).com, video replay and souvenir purchases requires a high-speed network that can easily expand to accommodate the skyrocketing number of Wi-Fi enabled mobile devices. Boingo’s Wi-Fi network will give our fans a reliable network for integrating their digital lifestyle with their game experience.”

Boingo has in its introductory offer included complimentary Internet access at U.S. Cellular (News - Alert) Field keeping in mind the sentiments of the White Sox fans. The company will also be providing premium service for fans who expect a gaming experience optimized with higher bandwidth. Boingo’s Unlimited and Mobile monthly subscribers will be provided with Premium access.

White Sox fans will also be offered an option to use Boingo Wi-Fi Credits for purchasing premium access. The service can be accessed over the iPhone (News - Alert), and iPad as well as other iOS mobile devices and has been priced at $1.99 per hour. The company’s Wi-Fi Credits can be downloaded from the Apple (News - Alert) iTunes store.

Colby Goff, senior vice president of Strategy and Business Development for Boingo Wireless, said that, “We are excited to add U.S. Cellular Field as one of our hotspots and to add to the game day experience for White Sox fans. Anywhere tens of thousands of people are concentrated in a relatively small space; the need for additional bandwidth becomes paramount. Wi-Fi easily fulfils that need.”
