Rampage Jackson, UFC Star and Film Actor Finds a New Way to Connect with Fans
(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)
UFC star and film actor Rampage Jackson has recently signed a three-app deal with MEDL Mobile, to develop mobile games.
As a part of this deal, Jackson will be appointed to the role of Creative Game Development Executive at MEDL, a leader in mobile apps development.
Officials said that he will work in close coordination with MEDL’s team of creative executives and programmers to develop three games based on his ideas.
Since Jackson is known for being exceptionally engaged with his fans, his role in creating the apps will be much more in-depth and hands-on than what is typical of a celebrity-branded app.
The apps, bearing Jackson’s name, will be based on his original ideas as a gamer and will not necessarily reflect his UFC or acting endeavors.
“Rampage is a long-time avid gamer with great ideas that he's been interested in developing for some time,” said Todd Jacobs of William Morris Endeavor, in a press release. “This isn't a case of a celebrity stamping his or her name or brand on a trendy product, but of a serious creative talent who is looking to chart new territory for himself and for his fans who share his passion for gaming.”
Company officials confirmed that the first app is slated for release in Spring 2012.
“With Rampage's acting career taking off and his UFC achievements well established, now is a perfect time for him to expand into mobile and connect with his fans in a new way,” said Dave Swartz, MEDL Mobile co-founder and chief creative officer.
In other news, Walter Foster Publishing, the world's leading art instruction publisher, and MEDL Mobile, a leader in mobile development, have partnered to create a new drawing experience for creative children. “Kids! Learn to Draw by Walter Foster” teaches budding artists how to draw an engaging array of subjects using step-by-step guides and the touch of a finger.
