Digital Sports Video Opts for Internap's Route-Optimized Content Delivery Network

September 16, 2010

(SPORTS TECHNOLOGY)

Internap's (News - Alert) route-optimized content delivery network has been selected by Digital Sports Video (DSV), the nation's largest provider of sports video scouting and editing software, to ensure the reliable, high-performance delivery of sports video footage to its customer base of more than 4,500 universities, colleges, junior colleges and high schools across the nation.

Powerful sports video presentation and production capabilities are provided by DSV by allowing them to quickly gather, edit and organize game and practice video in a digital format.

With the help of Internap’s route-optimized content delivery network, the coaches and players also have the ability to access video from any location with an Internet connection. This helps them to have faster information sharing and enhances the recruiting process.

Some of the nation's top-ranked college football programs – including the University of Alabama, the University of Oregon and Oklahoma University – use DSV's recruiting video library, Player-Direct, for coaching, scouting, game analysis and recruiting. Several other teams in major athletic conferences, including the Pac-10 and the Big 12 also use Player-Direct.

A powerful, performance-optimized network, Performance IP, is utilized by Internap's CDN for DSV to store, manage and distribute its sports video footage. To analyze network performance characteristics, such as available bandwidth, delays and packet loss, Performance IP uses patented Managed Internet Route Optimizer technology, ensuring that DSV's video traffic is routed over the best Internet path 100% of the time. In addition, Internap's whole-site approach to CDN delivery replicates frequently-accessed content across cache servers at each location, improving video reliability and performance.

"Internap provides us with a CDN that meets our unique requirements which no one else would accommodate," said Chris Griffin, president of DSV. "Our customers include major college football programs from the nation's top conferences, so we need to make sure that our video footage is available 24/7. Internap has come through on every angle and that gives me peace of mind."

"For Internet-based companies like DSV, having optimal network performance and reliability across the country is important for delivering the best possible user experience, which is key to their business," added Scott Hrastar, senior vice president of IP Services at Internap. "Our patented MIRO technology and global CDN allows DSV to focus on more strategic initiatives like product development, knowing that their customers will connect seamlessly, regardless of where their school may be."

In related news, Internap Network Services Corporation and ecenta, a premier global consulting firm specializing in projects involving implementation of SAP (News - Alert) solutions have entered into a joint venture.
